The Chartered Secretary is the person who has a sound knowledge of Financial Management; Information Technology, People and Resource Management. He or she is capable of holding varied senior management posts in a company. This involves analyzing the status of the business and its environment and ensuring that it is properly equipped to compete in an efficient and profitable manner.
The traditional role of the Chartered Secretary is that of Secretary of a Limited Liability Company, an appointment recognized by statute in the Companies Act. It is a role of ever increasing importance due to the responsibilities of corporate governance. It is the Chartered Secretary’s responsibility to ensure that the company is legally constituted, economically viable and properly organized.
Chartered Secretaries can choose between working in a company or private practice offering a consultative service to businesses in terms of planning, organising, controlling and submitting financial returns at year-end.
